The Infamous Stringdusters host a great festival, The Festy Experience October 5-7. It’s a beautiful fall weekend of bluegrassy jams situated at Devil’s Backbone Brewery in Nelson County, Va. In addition to the hosts, the line-up features Trampled by Turtles, Rubblebucket, Leftover Salmon, Love Canon, Della Mae, and Keller and the Keels (Keller Williams along with Larry and Jenny Keel.)

Another festival happening this weekend is the Outer Banks Bluegrass festival in Manteo, NC. I visited the site on Roanoke Island in the summer. It will be a gorgeous venue. Rhonda Vincent and Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver are the headliners. Doyle was recently named to the International Bluegrass Hall of Fame. We saw him earlier this year — tight, clean, classic bluegrass. Love him!

Closer to home Kirk Ave Music Hall in Roanoke has Sons of Bill (rockers Va.) on Friday, Oct. 5. The legendary Jorma Kaukonen (Hot Tuna, Jefferson Airplane) visits Kirk Ave. on Oct. 6.

A wealth of options! Get out and check one of them out.
