Travis Book and the Vespers

In April, we caught a Travis Book solo show at Kirk Ave. Music Hall. Travis was opening for The Vespers. We’d never heard them but they were fun. They are made up of two sisters and two brothers. Their music has a folky, Christian vibe. good stuff.

Travis plays bass for the Infamous Stringdusters and he plays guitar in his great solo shows. Check out his website. He played a nice version of Rockets, a Stringduster song, written by Travis and his wife, Sarah Siskind. Maybe you caught the video that’s running now on CMT.

My favorite was a cover of Gentle on My Mind. I’ve loved that song since I was a kid. I was a big Glen Campbell fan — he had the TV show back then. Gentle on my Mind is just a beautiful song. It’s written by John Hartford and my basic research shows it’s won two Grammy’s — one for Hartford and one for Campbell.
